West Coast Swing

Turning Basic

( Rolling Count )

HELP

DEFINITIONS

This pattern starts in open position bringing the lady into closed position allowing the pattern to rotate 180 degrees (1/2 turn) to the Right (Clockwise) about an imaginary point centered in the slot between the dancers. If you think about the slot as being narrow then part of the turning process actually puts the dancers on the rails even though the annotation indicates it is in the slot.

The annotation shown here indicates a 1/2 turn right (180 degrees). It is also quite common for the Turning Basic to be executed with a full turn (360 degrees).
