This exercise introduces the man into methods of clearing the Slot using his Left Rail and how to control his Left Hand Lead such that the woman can execute an Underarm Pass. It also shows the woman that she does the same [side cross side] on counts [3 & 4] as she did for the Left Side Pass. The woman should start focusing here on further developing her Anchor.
Rhythm Unit Cards: Double, Triple, Syncopated Single.
Absolute Pattern: Danced Alone.
Woman's part is same as for Left Side Pass. Man turns Rt here instead of Lt.

This exercise is danced with a partner (Adjusted Pattern). The man lifts his Left Hand up and moves it straight down the slot. He does not pull the woman or crank her into her Underarm Turn. The woman goes straight down the slot directly through the position where the man was at the beginning of the Step Pattern. He clears the slot by stepping toward his Left Rail on counts [1 2] so the woman can have room to pass and turn. The woman must not squeeze the man's hand or use the man for balance - she must execute everything under her own power. If the man uses any force at all it will throw the woman off balance.
Frame: Open Position - M: Lh Lead.
Repeat previous step pattern.
